Big thanks to our two REU students (Alastair Fisher and Juan Mesa) for all the hard work during the past 10 weeks. They’ve both gone above and beyond what we expect from undergrads with very little time to do it in. Alastair made great headway in imaging magnetic domain structures in a multitude of FeNi alloys on our way to synthesizing the ever-elusive Tetrataenite.
Juan was able to design, build, and implement a custom fitting for our Magnetic Force Microscope allowing us to apply a magnetic field in-plane and open up the doorway to so many more fascinating studies of magnetic domain behavior. From all of us at the Nanomagnetism Group, we want to thank them again and hope to see them back in the near future!
